ROME TRAVEL GUIDE

Rome Travel Guide - Rome was founded during the first millennium, B.C., and is one of the oldest cities in the world. Today the city proper covers 1290 sq km and has a population of almost 3 million. The capitol city of Italy is located between the Tiber and Aneine rivers, near the Mediterranean Sea. The home of the Pope and the seat of all Roman Catholicism lies within the city, in a small separate city, The Vatican.

The best time for Rome Travel is from late April through the end of October, when you'll have your choice of tours and tour buses. This is also the best time of the year for the outdoor concerts and touring the city. If you would like to search the Roman streets on your own, go in the off season for a more relaxed and less expensive trip.

This Rome Guide gives you information on hotels and accommodation, sightseeing, nightlife attractions that one of the oldest cities in the world has to offer. You can find out which the best Rome Hotel is and where it is located. Travel in Rome, Italy will be one of the great trips of your life so do some research and enjoy every minute of it. Be sure to use this Rome hotel and travel guide to get ideas about your trip to Rome.

While in Rome, you can enroll in gladiator school and learn how to fight the ancient Romans. These slaves were taught to fight and sometimes even won their freedom through the vicious battles which were treated like a day at the park by Roman families, who would bring their children and a picnic lunch to the event. Within this city lie the oldest galleries and monuments still standing today as a reminder of the time when the Romans ruled their universe. There is plenty of sightseeing and guided tours- the notorious Coliseum was capable of seating over 50,000 spectators for the great gladiator shows, where men would fight each other and wild animals to the death. The structure was originally called the Flavian Amphitheatre and was built on the site of Nero's palace. Renamed the Coliseum for the colossal statute of Nero nearby, this amphitheater is one of the most popular tourism attractions in Rome.

When in Rome, eat as the Romans do. A Trattoria is a small, family owned and operated restaurant which serves the traditional food most families eat regularly. If you're in the mood for something more formal, there are Ristorantes (yes that is where we get the word "Restaurant") or you can eat at the inn where you are staying, although most of them offer the equivalent of appetizers and are better known for their wine selections.
