ROME INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Rome Airport - There are two main airports serving Rome and the Vatican. The more traditional airport is Fiumicino. You can get to the centre city of Rome by a number routes, bus, taxi and Train. The express train - the Leonardo Express (how nice!) - speeds you right to the Stazione Termini - the Central Station of Rome. The cost of a one way ticket is about 10 euro. You go to the station platform and buy your ticket from the machine. You may want to buy a second ticket for your return to the Airport to save you time when you are finished your visit to Rome. Decide whether you want to buy a first class ticket or not - the machine in the station defaults to the last person’s choice! You can get the Leonardo Express every 30 minutes and enjoy the country side as you speed to central Rome. You can also get trains to other stations.

Travel Guide

Ciampino Airport is the “other” airport. On arrival in Ciampino you have a number of choices to get you to the centre of Rome - bus, taxi, a combination of bus and metro. There is the Terravision Bus for about 8-10 euro for Ryanair/Easyjet passengers and this will bring you to Central Station - Termini (a return ticket is cheaper than two singles). The buses leave Ciampino a short time after the arrival of Easyjet and Ryanair flights.

Or from Ciampino if you want you can take a bus to the nearest Metro station is Anagnina, and then get the metro and it will bring you to the Central Termini Stazione. This is a cheap way to do it - but do you really want these changes if you have a lot of luggage - you need a ticket for the bus and another ticket for the metro.

You may want to buy a one day Rome Travel Ticket for about 5 euro and this can be used for the day. Or there is a 12 euro tourist 3 day tickect which will take care of your transport for three days. You may also take a taxi to/from the airports, which costs about €50 euro and may be worth it if you have a lot of luggage.
